Walls Of Hope Youth

The Walls of Hope Youth (W.H.Y.) Collective is run by a group of youth who met during the Walls of Sorrow/Walls of Hope (WSWH) project. The group is mentored by Julie Jarvis, Artistic Director of Walls of Hope Canada and funded by the Laidlaw Foundation

As a collective, we ask the question WHY?  Why is there discrimination, poverty, and injustice? Why were there so many shootings last year? Why do women still make less money than men? We raise awareness of these issues by working together with other youth to create collaborative art projects, interventions and performances to share with the public.

In 2008, the WHY Collective was formed to:
       ·       Engage Toronto’s youth in order to give them a voice
       ·      Create inspiring arts projects
       ·      Raise the awareness of  local and international social justice issues
       ·      Act as role models
       ·      Cut a new path
       ·      Promote collaboration, creativity, and unity among diverse youth
